Moving Forwards

As we return to a “new normal”, it is an opportunity for us to reflect on how we have managed the challenges that have been thrown our way and how we have adapted to the task in hand.

There is no denying that the entirety of the construction industry has been adversely affected by Covid-19, and unfortunately that has extended to the groundworks sector. As have many other firms, we have had to reshuffle, restructure, and reinvent the way that we work to make sure that as a business we are as resilient as possible going forwards into the unknown.

During the restructure, we have had to lose valued colleagues who have been with us for many years, something that as a family run business has hit us very hard. We wish them all the success in their new employment and are so pleased to see them using this horrible opportunity to develop their passions into new career paths– we hope to keep in touch to share in their successes going forwards.

In more positive news, we have seen a huge increase in demand in the residential sector for our services. It is brilliant to see so many new referrals coming our way as many are based upon recommendations and word of mouth. We hugely encourage feedback and we now provide forms for our customers where they can congratulate us on good performance, but most importantly, point out anything they believe we can do better. We don’t just want to play with the big boys – residential works is where it all started for us and we love looking after the local area so thank you to everyone that has given us the chance to show you how efficient, professional and competitively priced we can be, the feedback speaks for itself.

We have also had the pleasure of winning some new contracts working with commercial customers unknown to us previously. Most recently, we have been contracted by NMC Group Ltd, experts in the surfacing and civil engineering sector, who have drafted us in on a labour and plant only basis, to assist with large projects already underway. The feedback we have received from them has been brilliant and we cannot wait to build great client/customer relations going forwards.

What does the future hold? We have absolutely no idea! However, we have learnt valuable lessons from the first lockdown to ensure that we can continue trading going forwards, even if there is a somewhat inevitable second wave. We have all the safety procedures in place, all of the PPE at our disposal, and all of the infrastructure to allow everyone to work from home safely yet efficiently. We hope that due to this forward planning we can minimise disruption and continue to provide you with a great service.

Thank you for your continued support!
